Discover a peaceful escape with crystal-clear waters and breathtaking views of Astypalea’s Castle.

Just a short distance from Livadi, Tzanaki Beach is one of Astypalea’s most charming hidden treasures. Surrounded by dramatic rocky landscapes and overlooking the picturesque Chora and its Venetian Castle, this secluded beach offers a different side of the island, where simplicity, natural beauty and tranquillity take centre stage.

Unlike the island’s more popular beaches, Tzanaki remains beautifully unspoiled. Its colourful pebbles, crystal-clear waters and peaceful atmosphere create the perfect setting for visitors looking to escape the crowds and reconnect with nature.

A Collection of Secluded Coves

Tzanaki, also known as Tzanakia, is actually a series of four small coves nestled between impressive rock formations. The two main coves are accessible on foot, while the smaller ones are more difficult to reach.

The sea becomes deep relatively quickly, making it particularly appealing to confident swimmers who enjoy the refreshing waters of the Aegean.

What makes Tzanaki truly special is its extraordinary view of Chora, with the traditional whitewashed houses and the Venetian Castle rising above the sea.

A Beach with a Free-Spirited Character

Tzanaki is traditionally known as Astypalea’s naturist-friendly beach. Its secluded location has made it a favourite among visitors who appreciate freedom, privacy and a relaxed connection with nature.

The beach welcomes everyone who respects its peaceful atmosphere and the preferences of fellow visitors.

How to Get to Tzanaki Beach

Tzanaki is located near Livadi, approximately 2.5 kilometres from Chora.

From Livadi, follow the coastal road past Agios Vasilios towards the dirt road. A walking path of approximately 300 metres leads down to the beach.

Comfortable footwear is recommended, as parts of the path can be rocky and uneven.
